Rant – Photoshop just quit, again

Hi. I’m learning Photoshop so I can help Mike with his work. I need to restart his laptop to get Photoshop going again.

The hidden part of all those online paintings is scanning and retouching the images. The little ones, like me, can be scanned. Then they have to be edited to make them look as close as possible to the original painting.

Electronic versions of art have many uses. They are a record of the work, can be used to make prints, and can be sent to art shows.

p.s. I get paid for this gig; in chocolate money!

New flowers

2016-03-22 00.59.20 sm

My assistant, Foxy, is compiling a list of flowers for me to paint. On it are a yellow daisy, a small delicate yellow poppy, and an orange mystery flower. Camas is also on the list; blue lily-like flowers with a nutritious, bulb-like root (a staple food of Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest). Camas was requested by a visitor to my booth at the Scappoose Farmers Market.

Below is an image of the daisy painting in progress.

Foxy was a lot of help so I gave her some chocolate for desert. Then I discovered that she found, and ate, almost the entire bar of chocolate. I scooped her up and put her to bed.

Poppies going – Daisies are here

Correction?  I originally called these flowers “daisies”, then chamomile, now back to daisy. —

My Scappoose poppy paintings are leaving the nest, going to good homes. I have added white chamomile, including the one below. Other flowers are in the works. Do you have a favorite volunteer flower growing near you? Let me know.

Another day at the market

It’s a lot of work, but it’s fun to be out meeting people. Most everyone likes the travel watercolors and the oil paintings. I only have poppies for now, but more local flowers are on the way. I have to get to work, painting. Maybe I’ll put assistant, Foxy, to work.
I drew another booth painting while I was at the market (4×6, watercolor). Here it is…

Selling Paintings at the Farmer’s Market

Hey – Mike and I went to the Scappoose (Oregon, USA) Farmer’s Market last Saturday. Here are some photos from the day. We worked hard. He was so busy he almost forgot to make me breakfast.

Photo 1 – Ready to go!

Photo 2 – All set up; just in time with thanks to my son’s wife, who lent a helping hand, and to Foxy, too.

Photos 3 and 4 – I stood outside my booth and painted these while at the market. First is the rooster, mascot of the Market. It about a 4 foot tall metal sculpture. Second is the flower booth across from me.

I did well for my first time at the market. There was lots of interest and I sold a few pieces of art!

Photo 5  – We were tired. Foxy pooped out as soon as we got home.
